ABOUT THE WEEKEND

The Community Grief Ritual is a transformational, soul-restoring workshop, inspired by the teaching and wisdom of indigenous spiritual teacher Sobonfu Somé. It is designed to provide a supportive, safe space to release our individual and collective grief — including, but not limited to: the loss of loved ones, the loss of dreams, the loss of identity, and the loss of connection with our Ancestors, Mother Earth, and Spirit.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THIS RITUAL

In this program, we enter a ritual space together to intentionally work through our individual grief, supported by the community we create. We invite and engage our ancestors, the 5 elements of the Dagara Medicine Wheel (especially the element of water), and our spirit guides to witness our very personal and collective grieving process.

Ritual creates community and intimacy, inviting Spirit to nourish us during the healing process and help us achieve a lasting sense of release. As a result, we regain connectedness with ourselves and with Spirit. This program, led by Susan Hough and Jessica Heiler, offers participants an exceptional experience that is transformative and profoundly healing.

About the Presenters

Susan Hough is the founder of Living Your Gifts, a spiritual coaching practice. She has been living her gifts for over 35 years, first as a social worker and now as a spiritual coach. A born healer, she began studying with Sobonfu Somé, after reading Sobonfu’s book, The Spirit of Intimacy, and meeting her in 2000. Their instant and profound connection began a 17 year mentorship in the practice of traditional African Rituals. Through these rituals, Susan learned the transformational role spirit plays in each life, and is committed to teaching this wisdom to others.

Jessica Heiler is the founder of Living in Oneness. She supports people to remember their sacred connection to the earth and to the spirit world. For more than 15 years, she has been learning what it means to live a deeply connected life in our modern times from elders and wisdomkeepers of traditional cultures. As Sobonfu Some’s interpreter in Germany, Jessica became deeply involved with Sobonfu’s teachings, and is keeping them alive through her workshops and online-courses. She lives with her family in one of Germany’s oldest intentional communities: the ecovillage, Sieben Linden.
