One Hundred Years of Being Radically Human

Step into an alternate campiverse

There are arts camps, band camps, farming camps, and endless endeavors worthy of your summer. But at Rowe, people are our project. There is no other camp that so boldly and joyfully explores our thoughts, feelings, fears, and dreams in such a supportive and inspiring environment. Campers and staff collaborate to create each camp session, making each week unique from the last. Here, we get to know each other and ourselves with a depth and appreciation rarely seen in other spaces. The results are astonishing. Barriers break. Doubts unravel. The unlikeliest of friendships form. Each camp has its place, but we truly believe Rowe is beyond what you’ll experience anywhere else—and we invite you to hear it directly from the campers themselves:

Rowe tasks campers with the challenge to balance personal expression and development with the needs of the community. This is an intrinsic part of what Rowe offers to campers – an opportunity to explore the edge where self-expression and community meet. Former Executive Director, Douglas Fir Wilson, left us with the following charge, “The Spirit of Rowe is best embodied by those who learn to live on this edge.”

“Camp encouraged me to embrace new experiences and branch out of my comfort zone. I learned to be brave at Rowe.”

“I keep coming back because it’s where I remember who I wanna be.”

— Recent YPC Camper

“I feel like I spend so much energy trying to find people like me or be like the people around me in the real world. At Rowe I forgot I was supposed to be trying. I just got to be myself.”

Big Fun, Bigger Growth

The most thrilling adventures are more than just a joy ride—they are dynamic experiences that stay with you and prepare you for the challenges ahead. Through structured but choice based workshops, guided discussions, creative exercises, and exploration, campers at Rowe travel far beyond the trip to Pelham lake and hikes through the surrounding woods, into the most exhilarating realm of self expression. The fun is boundless, and campers leave with the confidence and emotional skills to meet an increasingly tumultuous world.

Experience Unparalleled Beauty

Whenever we’re at Rowe, we feel we’ve stepped into a fairytale. The cabins perched on the grassy hillside among the towering elms, sunlight beaming into the Grace Jordan Rec Hall, the whisper quiet of the rolling orchard, the moonlight pouring through the stained glass windows of our chapel, the meditation hut nestled deep in the woods across a soft blanket of pine needles, the magic of this place truly cultivates the soul.

Abandon Hate

At Rowe, the one thing we don’t tolerate is intolerance. We proudly and unapologetically offer a safe space for people of all nationalities, racial identities, gender identities, faiths, and sexual orientations. Our commitment to inclusivity is not just a line in a brochure—it is the foundation of who we are and who we have been since we opened in 1924.

Financial Support

The Rowe Center understands that many factors outside of gross income impact an individual’s ability to pay including family dynamics, job stability, housing, number of dependents, immigration status and level of debt.

We want camp to be as accessible as possible. We offer payment plans and scholarships. Please reach out directly if you have concerns about the deposit amount. All requests will be kept strictly confidential.

Rowe has a storied history of fighting for social justice. Our very first campers wrote anti-war letters to Calvin Coolidge. We will never retreat from our efforts to create a world of peace, compassion, and kindness.

Find Your Forever Friends

Rowe has lasted a hundred years because the people who come here keep the flame lit. Most people who attend Rowe make friends that stay with them their entire lives and return year after year to enjoy this amazing place for workshops, reunions, or just to get away. They will tell you, camp is a lifelong experience and Rowe is their forever home. We want you to hear directly from a few of the hundreds of Rowies who remain an active part of our community decades after they were campers, some of whom were campers in the 1960’s!
