Pruett
An experienced and knowledgeable life passage guide, Holly J Pruett helps individuals, families, and communities to prepare for, live with, and talk about death. Holly is professionally trained as a Life-Cycle Celebrant, Community Death Educator, Home Funeral Guide, and Death Doula; a longtime student in Stephen Jenkinson’s Orphan Wisdom School; and has earned two Proficiency Badges from the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance and certification in Thanatology from the Association for Death Education & Counseling. Alongside her 14 years of direct service work in this field, Holly is a well-known conversation leader and consultant, co-creator of the non-commercial public information website Oregon Funeral Resources & Education, founder of PDX Death Café, and former facilitator for Oregon Humanities’ Talking about Dying Conversation Program. For 30 years she served the community through local, state, and national non-profit organizations as a community organizer, executive director, and consultant advancing LGBTQ and women’s rights and racial, social, and environmental justice.
