Successful Fundraising for Challenging Times with Stephanie Roth
This course will help you start or expand an individual donor program, with an emphasis on strategies that anyone (especially volunteers!) can carry out.
You’ll learn about the elements of successful fundraising, how to build and support a fundraising team, how to increase your confidence in asking for money (including personal one-on-one solicitations), and how to create a fundraising plan. We’ll also discuss how to carry out a few specific fundraising strategies, including peer-to-peer campaigns and house parties.
About Stephanie Roth
Stephanie Roth (she/her) is a trainer and consultant for nonprofits. Her focus is fundraising and board development for social justice organizations. She has served as staff and board member for many organizations over the years, including most recently as Development Director for a community land trust that creates affordable housing in rural Marin County, CA. Stephanie was a leader with a team of activists who started an individual donor program for Jewish Voice for Peace in the early 2000s when their budget was under $20,000, creating the framework for what is now a multi-million dollar budget with a national staff of over 30 people, still almost entirely supported by individuals. Stephanie was a co-founder of GIFT (Grassroots Institute for Fundraising Training), and was the Editor of the Grassroots Fundraising Journal for eleven years. She is the co-author of The Accidental Fundraiser: A Step-by-Step Guide to Raising Money for Your Cause, published in 2005, and is currently working on a new edition of the book – due out in Spring of 2025 – with Haley Bash. Stephanie lives in Berkeley with her wife, Kim Klein, and their two cats.
