About The Program
Check out Ed Tick’s upcoming program, Restoring the Soul After War: A Memorial Day Retreat for People in Military Service, Veterans, and Those Who Love Them; his articles, The Gods May Be Watching, Coming Home After War and Point of View; and past sessions of the group he co-founded at Rowe, Gathering of Warriors.
Ancient and world spiritual traditions teach that the key to healing is restoring the soul and re-aligning with the cosmic order. Healers facilitated altered states of consciousness without drugs or medicines. Their practices brought dreams, visions, and oracles that were especially effective in healing through catharsis, identity transformation, providing life guidance, revealing prescriptions and destinies, recovering buried memories, and reconnecting to the sacred.
Western medicine and psychotherapy originated in these practices over 3,300 years ago using holistic and naturopathic methodologies combined with “dream incubation,” a form of vision questing. This practice brought seekers what Jung called “big dreams” that provided direct healing or prescriptions. Healing rituals included seeking oracles for life guidance and breakthrough visions. These resulted in thousands of “miracle cures” to intractable conditions of body, mind, heart, and spirit.
Ed Tick has been studying and practicing this tradition for decades and has led more than 20 pilgrimages overseas to replicate them. His new book, Soul Medicine, documents decades of this healing work. At our retreat we will explore soul medicine and healing through dream pilgrimages and incubations, sacred theatre, vision and oracle seeking, philosophy and mythology. We will study and replicate the ancient practices that are the blueprints of healing today and seek big dreams and oracles for holistic healing.
