Rewild Your Creativity: A Forest Bathing Retreat to Ignite Your Creativity

UU Rowe Camp & Conference Center is pleased to present “Rewild Your Creativity: A Forest Bathing Retreat to Ignite Your Creativity,” a program led by artist and certified forest therapy guide, Nadine Mazzola. This program is designed to foster insight into individual creative inspiration to ignite freedom of creativity while also in a supportive, judgement-free environment surrounded by nature.

Understanding Forest Bathing

Guided Forest Bathing is an opportunity to get away from the stresses of daily life, and embrace the gentle healing of the forest. Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku (森林浴), it translates to “taking in the atmosphere of the forest with the intention of health and wellbeing. It is more like a slow, sensory excursion and less like a hike. Certified guide, Nadine Mazzola, will guide the group in several forest bathing experiences that consist of optional invitations to interact with the forest in simple ways.

Program Overview

Participants in this program will engage in a variety of activities tailored to support their creative journey:

  • Guided Workshops: Led by Nadine Mazzola, these sessions offer opportunities to explore several mediums and introduce some essential techniques such as watercolor, pastel/charcoal, and nature journaling or writing exercises. The workshops are designed to accommodate both beginners and those with experience.
  • Interactive Sessions: Group discussions and activities foster a sense of community and shared learning. These interactions provide a safe and welcoming environment where participants can explore creative mediums and techniques, and connect with others. Saturday evening will feature an optional campfire and drum circle.
  • Personal Time: Dedicated time for individual reflection, rest or creative pursuits allows participants to integrate and explore some mediums further if they wish. This quiet time can also be spent exploring or resting.
  • Nature Immersion: The beauty and serene setting of UU Rowe Camp & Conference Center enhances the creative process. Nature offers not only insight but its partnership in the creative process. There will be opportunities for both group and solo time outdoors.

Benefits of Participation

By participating in “Rewild Your Creativity” attendees will:

  • Explore Different Creative Mediums: Watercolor, pastel, charcoal, nature journaling, haiku, and creating ephemeral art with items found in nature with guidance from Nadine are all part of the program.
  • Experience Forest Bathing: Certified Forest Therapy Guide, Nadine Mazzola, will guide the group in several forest bathing experiences that consist of optional invitations to interact with the forest and a forest tea ceremony.
  • Reduced Stress and Burnout: Learning mindful creativity and forest bathing practices lower stress and anxiety while fostering connection and resilience.
  • Cultivated Creative Expression: Foster freedom and a kinder relationship with making “art” and the process of creating.
