Once upon a time, you had an idea (or you had an idea that you could have an idea) for a children’s book — here’s your chance to make it happen!
Give yourself a little weekend in the big woods to explore the world of picture books. You’ll retreat into your child-mind, open your marketing mind, and learn how to tame your critical mind as you craft your own picture-book story from start to finish. Through a combination of exercises, personal coaching, and group discussion, you’ll cover all the basics — from brainstorming and creating compelling characters, dialogue, pacing, and plots, to the ins and outs of the publishing process — and you’ll go well beyond the basics. You’ll walk away with insider’s tips, tools, peer feedback, professional advice and a plan (not to mention that story you dreamed about once upon a time) that will keep you creating happily ever after.
Writers who don’t illustrate, artists who don’t write, and confirmed writer/illustrators — whether beginning or experienced — all are welcome.
