The truth not only sets us free, it’s the gateway to intimacy, the source of emotional and physical healing, and the vehicle through which the power of compassion manifests in our lives.
Our parents and our schools teach us to pretend, to put on a show, so we develop a public face. Our suffering comes from the belief that we are who we are in the eyes of others. Most of us live a guarded, defended, mind-dominated existence that suffocates our genius and deprives us of the nourishment we need. We live in our imaginations, thinking about how our act is going over, instead of being there with other people.
Telling the truth breaks down barriers. Anger needs to be expressed directly and honestly to be healing. People can get over having hurt feelings in about half an hour. If we stick with each other until the process is done, we can relax and get on with life. Our feelings and the truth change, from moment to moment. That’s the way life is.
In this workshop we will play with an existence distinguished by authenticity, aliveness, and passion. Beneath the surface of politeness lies a pool of wisdom waiting to be shared with others, whose yearning is just like ours. If you’re grounded in your experience, you can forgive your fellow beings, then yourself, and life becomes a lot more fun and a lot funnier. We can have lives that work and relationships that are alive and passionate. Come join us.
Brad Blanton is the best selling author of Radical Honesty: How to Transform Your Life by Telling the Truth. The book jacket says “Warning: contains adult language and adult ideas.” So does Dr. Blanton, who calls himself “trailer trash with a Ph.D.” Last year he ran for Congress, telling the truth as he saw it. He didn’t win, but he is quite a guy.
Anne Bryer, a certified Radical Honesty trainer, will share her insights and vast experience working with honesty and with Brad.
